Fumbling Towards Ecstasy

About a boy who randomly posts but is filled with many thoughts, most of them ridiculous, some stupid and the odd one intriguing...

My apologies to David but it appears that the new Star Wars movie sucks ass. I think Rick Groen's review in today's Globe was potentially the funniest thing I've ever read in my life. My favorite quote is "You don't have to like a franchise to admire its strengths. Chief among them is consistency. Order the fries from McDonald's or the Billy bookcase from Ikea or the latest Star Wars issue from the George Lucas warehouse, and you can always bank on the outcome. Anyway, I don't have tickets yet and even the populist critics are saying bad things. Oh well.

GO LEAFS GO! I know it might shock and stun some of you but I am a hockey fan. Why is it that no one can understand that I actually enjoy some sports? I know I'm not the manliest man nor am I potentially the biggest jock, but can't a guy enjoy cheering for a good Canadian hockey team? Anyway, I've got a home-cooked supper riding on this series so Toronto better kick some serious ass...

Work today was good. I actually had real things to do and I spent the day at the Archives. I felt very historian and academic like asking for all these rare books and flipping through them and pretending as if I was working on the world's most important project and that I was just about to discover how dinosaurs REALLY became extinct. Alas, I was just looking through a bunch of old government documents about nothingness but it still felt fun.

So, I'm thinking about starting a political party. It's going to be known as "The Purple Party" as there is an absence of purple in the political colour landscape. There is also an absence of a centre/centre-left alternative which is communitarian, socially-conscious and fiscally responsible. I yearn for the days when PCs were actually progressive, when NDP was truly filled with democrats, when the Alliance and the Bloc didn't exist and when Liberal didn't mean being loose in ethics and liberal with the concept of an agenda. So, I think I might have to step out on my own. I know my friend Bill might join me and maybe were the only ones. Perhaps there really is a large group of centrists out there though searching for a political home... Thoughts?

My new room decorating is about to begin. I've been trying to pressure my parents into letting me re-do my room to make it more me. They've been resisting. But yesterday I changed my Auntie Johanna, Uncle Garry and cousin's gift into a black-and-white IKEA rug which doesn't really match with anything in my room so I think my parents will have to relent :) HA! HA! HA! Look out, here comes the Canadian version of Trading Space's Vern.
